What could be worse than offering someone a present of a Chocolate Easter Bunny with a big fat belly? I am guilty of this, but I carefully chose the recipient of the Big Belly Bunny. Alex, one of the owners of the ForzaFit where I work out here in The Hague, is at the gym 6 to 7 days a week and never EVER works out a day in his life. He was happy with the bunny, not even a flash of dismay, so despite all of my prodding he is not yet ready to bust a move and start training. It will obviously take more than a fat bunny and daily teasing by all of us at the gym!
So, the answer to the question of what could be worse than the fat bunny, popped (or hopped) up in the top of my facebook stream this morning and the winner is…. my dear friend Rodney Jones for bringing this Peeps Cake into the world!
This Peeps Cake concoction, or sugar bomb, as he referred to it, is quite shocking, especially since it was created by a guy who +80% of the time strives for healthy creations. But who am I to judge or stifle his creativity; perhaps the combination of Pinterest Easter cake recipie ideas and Target & Walgreens aisles overflowing with Easter Candy proved irresistable. On days like this I can be glad I live in a land far from Peeps and jelly beans. This is the same reason I have money in my bank account at the end of each month…there are no Target stores!
The only solid contender to battle here in Holland at Easter is Belgian Chocolate, and what a formidable opponent that is! My only words of advice are go for dark and go for the best; it’s too expensive to overdose!
Back to the tragic Peeps Cake story, I am not sure how many innocent bystanders were afflicted by this concoction, but there is a happy ending to the story! According to reliable sources, aka: facebook comments, Rodney followed my Number 1 Holiday rule and went straight to the neighbors with the left over Peeps cake! I was so ecstatic to read this!
It’s Easter Monday, what’s done is done, time get back on track and get the crap out of your house!
I’ll be enjoying the 60 colorful hardboiled eggs with my name on them in the coming days. I hope you have a beautiful and plentiful supply too!

Thanks for featuring my Peep Cake, Suzy!Even though it was an ultimate sugar bomb, in Peep Cake’s defense, it was an angel food cake which is always a good choice for a fat free and light dessert made of your favorite healthy food – egg whites!. Also, the Cadbury dark chocolate candy eggs are rich in healthful antioxidants. Finally, everything was removable and not baked in and while creating a temptation with all of the goodies decorating it, it could easily be stripped down to create a sweet treat for someone who wanted a more healthy choice for dessert. Happy Easter!
You make a great case Rodney that deep down your colorful & festive masterpiece is in fact truly healthy…aren’t we all:-) Thank you for providing this fun & fanciful, over the top example of Easter indulgence! I didn’t even have to search:-) The kids want you to make one of these cakes for them! You think there will be tears when they wake up in the morning and their chocolate bunnies are gone? NO, I didn’t eat them…but House Rules!
Rodney told me about his peeps cake and your remarks so of course I had to check it out. I need more fun and laughter in my life and the two of you provided just that. I have been laughing for the last 10 minutes. That cake was beautiful but not tempting for me because I hate peeps. I could go buy some clearance Easter candy and bring it with me so I could recreate it for the kids when I visit.(just kidding) And yes I’m eating hard boiled eggs! Lots!
