Taking one for the team! The Lab Gym “Before & After” Ad

by Suzy Oge on January 4, 2012

Yikes! It is hard for me to look at the “before” photo on this postcard. Scary, maybe for you too; even if you don’t know me? But I did search diligently to find this fat photo to share with the world. It is so easy to delete or “un-tag” ourselves in unflattering photos. But maybe it is time to face the reality that it is not the photo or the photographer, but that really is the way that you look;  yes it has gotten that bad; you are that big. Just because you look to your right and to your left and see plenty of people twice or three times your size, you are kidding yourself if you take comfort in being “less obese”.

This Lab Gym postcard was sent to thousands of homes in the St. Louis area a few days ago and as hideous as the photo is; I am glad! If even one person looks at this fat photo of me and sees hope for themselves, it is so worth it to me!

Of course I am extremely proud of the “Now” photo taken a few weeks ago when I passed the 55 pound/25 kilo weight loss mark! Even more remarkable though when you look at the fat photo is what my body can do in the gym now!  Today I did 4 consecutive sets of pushups on my toes (not knees) averaging 14 full push ups per 20 second set, with jumping jacks in between, followed by 30 full sit ups in 1 minute with a 6ft man standing on my toes. Yesterday I deadlifted 195 lbs for 6 reps! Who knows what tomorrow will hold, but bring it on!

The Lab Gym has a Groupon right now, good until midnight today only. There are great deals on gym memberships and even on the intensive personal training weight loss program I’ve done. So cost is one excuse you can put aside and get yourself into the gym! See you at 7.15 am??

Suzy I’m amazed by what you had achieved. I’ve been trying to loose my mamma belly for a while now…Kai has turned 3 for 2 weeks ago. I try for two weeks, then I get sick, or it gets too busy at work and I give up for another two weeks. How did you keep your motivation up? You look amazing :-)! Best regards, Marzena Nordin (Potulna :-))

Thanks Marzena! Laser Focus…that is what it takes to get through the initial period to see enough results to keep going and then it can become your habit! Cancel anything else before your workout and tell everyone you are really busy with a really important project, or appointment, or whatever! Because you are worth it! Soon you’ll have even more energy from exercise to get back to all “those other things” you blew off…if you decide they are still worth doing? Good luck!

I hope lab gym can come and help fat people here in the Philippines and I’m one of them.
